Included in Our Pet Lab Test
Based on your pet’s age, heath history, and current condition, your veterinarian may recommend one or more of the blood and lab tests below.
Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Chemistry Profile
To get a more complete picture of your pet’s health, your doctor may recommend a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Chemistry Profile, a routine diagnostic tool which can indicate the presence of illness and disease.
Urinalysis
Urinalysis is a routine pet lab test used to assess the health of the kidneys and urinary system, and can aid in diagnosing  certain illnesses and pet health conditions, such as diabetes.
Fecal Tests
Your veterinarian may recommend fecal testing during a routine checkup or Sick Visit to check for the presence of parasites as well as to help diagnose underlying gastrointestinal issues that may cause vomiting or diarrhea.
Â
Heartworm Tests
A pet Heartworm test requires just a small sample of blood and is a tool to detect the presence of heartworm proteins. Dogs should be tested at least once per year, and cats should be tested as recommended by your veterinarian.
Tick-Borne Illness Tests
If your pet has been bitten by a tick, your veterinarian may order a blood test 4-6 weeks after exposure to screen for Lyme disease, anaplasma, and ehrlichia.
Skin & Ear Cytologies
During a comprehensive Wellness or Sick exam, if your doctor suspects that your pet has an ear infection, they may perform a test called ear cytology to find out how to best treat it.
Cultures and Sensitivity
Culture and sensitivity testing may be recommended to test if any bacteria is present in your pet’s urine, ear swab, or skin sample. A sample can be retrieved during your pet’s in-home comprehensive exam.
Vaccine Titers
A pet titer test measures antibodies for certain diseases in a sample of blood. You can request a pet titer test for certain viruses to find out whether your pet is still protected from prior vaccinations or natural immunity.
Fine Needle Aspiration
Fine needle aspiration (FNA) is a common technique to diagnose lumps or growths found in or on a pet’s body.
