We all know how important CE is for our personal development. Conferences can be a great way to get this, as well as a valuable networking opportunity and a chance to catch up on the latest gadgets. When it comes to CE, do you prefer to stick to something local – or mix it up with a trip abroad?

American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Convention
July 29 – August 2 in Philadelphia, PA

A return to an in-person conference this year, the AVMA convention will cover both small and large animal topics for veterinarians, as well as practice management, and dedicated streams for vet techs.

Connexity by American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)
September 15–17 in Nashville, TN

Now open to all (not just AAHA members), Connexity has a reputation for delivering top-class CE. The full program has yet to be announced, but we’re betting it will be worth a look.

International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) World Congresses
June 30–July 3 in Rhodes, Greece; November 22-23 in Hong Kong

A must for feline-friendly practitioners, this year’s conference focuses on creating harmony between physical and emotional well-being. The two events can be attended in-person, or if you don’t fancy the travel, then you can get access to their virtual congress with all the lectures available online.

World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Congress
29-31 October in Lima, Peru

After last year’s virtual congress, this year we’re back in the real world with an even in South America. The program has yet to be announced, but WSAVA conferences always boast world-class speakers, so it’s sure to be a great event.

Ruth graduated from Cambridge in 2014 and has worked as a small animal GP vet ever since. She is particularly interested in internal medicine, as it combines her love of problem-solving and her somewhat geeky love of knowledge, and has completed her certificate in Small Animal Medicine. She loves animals of all species but is particularly fond of cats.
