In-Home Puppy & Kitten Wellness Exams
Welcome your new furry addition with an exam designed just for them. Kitten and puppy checkups help to ensure that your pet’s first year is off to a smooth and healthy start.
Reasons to Book an In-Home Puppy and Kitten Check-Up
Convenient Home Visits
Packing a new kitten or puppy into a car to get to the veterinarian can be a stressful experience for everyone. Keep your pet calm and comfortable by scheduling their initial pet health assessment at home.
Tailored Kitten & Puppy Care
Our Kitten and Puppy Wellness Exams are tailored to your growing pet, ensuring that their life with you begins with premium veterinary care. Our expert veterinarians take the time to get to know your pet and address their unique needs.
Safer Health Checks
Puppies and kittens are susceptible to serious illness, especially before they have had all of their recommended vaccines. In-home veterinary care keeps pets safe by reducing their exposure to other pets and communicable diseases.
Enhanced Health Monitoring
Observing how your kitten or puppy develops in their home environment is a key indicator of their overall health and wellness. Your veterinarian will monitor your young pet’s growth over time, and make recommendations for optimal health, nutrition, and behavior.Â
Puppy & Kitten Vet Visit Process
During your home visit, your pet will receive a thorough nose-to-tail examination. Our veterinarians assess each puppy or kitten’s overall health and offer customized recommendations for vaccinations, medications, or services.
Assessing Your Puppy or Kitten’s Health
We recommend regular kitten and puppy physical exams to follow their growth and development during the first year and to administer essential vaccines and preventatives.Â
Customizing Vaccination Recommendations
During your Kitten and Puppy Wellness Visits, your veterinarian will administer any necessary vaccines by age. If you have any questions or concerns, you’ll be able to address them together and create a vaccine schedule that is best for your furry friend.
Post-Examination Support
BetterVet is here for you after your visit, too! If you have any concerns about caring for your pet, vaccinations or medications, we’re here to offer support whenever you need it. A virtual veterinary visit is another great option when you are looking for additional guidance.

What Our Clients Say
Frequently asked questions
We recommend that you schedule your puppy or kitten’s first Wellness Exam as soon as you bring them home for the first time. We have flexible appointment times to accommodate your schedule and have same-day availability in many locations.
Your veterinarian may ask you to have any paperwork or medical records on hand during your visit, as well as a fecal sample. If so, they will communicate this with you, prior to your appointment.
Pricing for a Kitten and Puppy Wellness Exam starts at $95 plus travel, depending on your location. Please visit our pricing page for more information.Â
The cost of vaccines is not included in the Wellness Exam fee. You might be interested in one of our pet wellness plans, as our Premium and Premium Plus plans include 2 or more wellness and sick exams per year, and are a great option for kitten and puppy parents.
A standard puppy or kitten wellness exam lasts 45 minutes. This time allows our mobile veterinarians to thoroughly assess your pet and discuss any additional testing or vaccinations.
Please have any important paperwork on hand, such as information from the breeder or rescue organization, as well as a record of any vaccinations or preventative treatments your puppy or kitten may have had. Your veterinarian may also request a fecal or urine sample ahead of time.
Most puppies and kittens need between 2 and 4 visits by a veterinarian during their first year, depending on their vaccine history and age. Once your puppy or kitten reaches adulthood, we recommend yearly wellness exams for most of our adult furry patients.
If your pet needs medication or treatment after the exam, your veterinarian will advise you on the best options, provide prescriptions and offer guidance on treatment administration and follow-up care.
If a health issue is identified during your pet’s exam, our mobile veterinarians will discuss the findings with you and recommend the appropriate next steps or treatments to ensure your pet’s well-being.
