Scheduling a Wellness Exam

Regular veterinary care is key to your pet’s long-term health. This includes routine Wellness Exams and vaccinations. During your pet’s head-to-tail examination, your veterinarian will recommend vaccines that your pet needs, based on age, lifestyle, and geographical location.

Discussing Vaccines

During a Wellness Exam, your veterinarian will recommend specific vaccines based on your pet’s age, health, and lifestyle. If you have any questions or concerns about the process, you’ll be able to address them directly with your veterinary team. They’re here to help!

Administering Vaccines

Our Fear Free® certified veterinarians administer your pet’s vaccines with your pet’s comfort level in mind throughout the entire process. Our gentle, in-home process ensures that your pet’s vaccinations will be over before they know it.

Post-Vaccination Care

Your veterinary team will provide guidance on post-vaccination care, including any potential side effects or adverse reactions your pet may experience, and how to best care for them following their shots. They’ll also be available for support if you have any questions or concerns following your appointment.

When to Schedule Your Pet’s Vaccine Shots

Our veterinary team will work with you to come up with a vaccine schedule for your pet, which is customized based on their age, lifestyle, and geographical location. Typically, vaccines and boosters are bundled with our Wellness Exams.

Puppies & Kittens

New puppies and kittens are more susceptible to diseases, so we recommend they receive their initial vaccines before socializing with other pets. During a Puppy and Kitten Wellness Exam, our veterinarians will make sure your pet is developing properly and is on track with all necessary vaccines.

Annual Boosters

Annual boosters are an essential component of your pet’s wellness, maintaining their immunity against diseases. Our mobile pet vaccinations will keep your pets up-to-date without the hassle and anxiety associated with traveling to a clinic.

Before Boarding or Travel

If you’re planning a trip with your pet, either domestic or international, specific vaccines may be required. Check travel guidelines beforehand and schedule any necessary vaccinations with us to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience.

After Pet Adoption

New pet parents should ensure that their furry friends are up-to-date with core and non-core vaccines. In-home veterinary care is a wonderful option for new and adopted pets, as it minimizes both stress and disruption for you and them.

Included in Our Mobile Pet Vaccines Service

BetterVet offers mobile vaccinations for pets, including core and non-core vaccines. Together, you’ll make a vaccination schedule that works for you and keeps your pet healthy, up-to-date, and protected from transmissible disease.

Core Vaccines

Your BetterVet veterinarian will recommend when and what core vaccines are necessary for your pet.  Core vaccines for dogs include rabies and DHPP (distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, parvovirus). Core vaccines for cats are typically rabies and FVRCP  (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia).

Non-Core and Lifestyle Vaccines

Depending on your pet’s lifestyle and where you live, your veterinarian may also recommend non-core vaccines tailored to your pet’s specific needs. Our veterinarians will advise you on the best options for your pet, but non-core vaccines can often include: feline leukemia for cats, canine leptospirosis, bordetella (kennel cough), Lyme, and influenza vaccines, or even vaccines for specific toxins like Western diamondback rattlesnake.

Ongoing Support

Our veterinarians remain a resource for you even after your appointment. Whether you have concerns about post-vaccine care or general questions about your pet’s vaccination needs, we’re here to provide guidance and support. A virtual vet visit is a great option when you have pet health questions but aren’t sure if they need to be seen for an in-home visit.

What Our Clients Say

TheReveal R.
Dr. Miller took so much time to try and comfort my very scared pet, meeting them on the floor and bending over backwards in so many ways. Thank you so much for your excellent care!
Annette Lott
They were so good to Sandy who’s life gently ended surrounded by the family she loved. The doctor explained everything to us and the four kids present. It was solemn. We have since bee gifted with two big dogs who will see The Vets when needed. We are very grateful for their care.
MaryAnn Clark
They were so friendly and professional!! Very efficient, and super knowledgeable! Highly recommend!!
Melissa C.
The service that is provided is far above anything. The veterinarian and assistant are absolutely wonderful and kind. As a parent of multiple fur babies, having the veterinarian come into our home made each of them so calm and relaxed. The prices were extremely fair, and their communication was above par. I cannot wait to have them out again.
Kat Machin
They took exceptional care of my dog. They were very nice and kind. Very sweet to my dog. Very knowledgeable, helpful and prepared. Smooth experience, I like that they were able to come to my house and treat my dog at a comfortable environment for him. I highly recommend and would see them again in the event of any vet need 🙂
Rebecca F.
I cannot say enough good things about this service! We have 2 cats and getting them to the vet is stressful starting with the carrier. This service is professional, excellent communicators, prompt, courteous and so sweet to our cats. They made the entire process so easy for us. Highly recommend
Lisa M.
LOVE The Vets! They are a mobile vet service which means they come to your house. There is zero stress for my dog and myself, and it's super convenient. The vet is thorough and takes her time to talk through the evaluation and available options for treatment. I won't go back to our old vet, The Vets has been an amazing experience for both my dog and myself.
John Lemonds
We have used The Vets twice, and on both occasions they were very competent and friendly. They maintained a calm and caring professionalism, even when our adopted feral cat screamed and tried to kill them! I couldn't be more happy and impressed. Thank you, The Vets!
Gaby Perez
I have a senior dog with mobility issues and having a vet come to our house is a great option. Easy scheduling, great communication and care. I highly recommend them.
Annete B.
Wonderful care for an option when in need. Personal and very friendly. So patient and great with my sick kitty. My Leroy is now all well and back to his trooping self. Thank you so much!
Aleisha Zolman
How can you not love that the vets come to my house and sit on my floor at my cats level to check him? BB walked right up to them and loved up to them immediately. Dr. Savageau (besides having a cool name) was gentle, informative. She also heard and accommodated what I wanted in a relationship with a vet. When I had a follow up call, she responded with great information and kindness. I highly recommend The Vets.
William M.
Absolutely painless appointment and house call for a Saturday. Vet was knowledgeable and patient, as was his Vet Tech. I will use them again for sure. $ wise they were no more expensive than going to my regular Vet, who is closed on Saturday's.

Frequently asked questions

We typically bundle your pet’s vaccines with a Pet Wellness Visit, which usually lasts between 30-45 minutes.

Yes, we source all of our vaccines from highly reputable sources only, the same as if we were a brick and mortar veterinary clinic.

Your veterinarian will work with you to determine what core and non-core vaccines are necessary for your pet, and when they should be administered.

If you are concerned about your pet’s reaction to a vaccine, or they have had a bad reaction in the past, make sure to let your veterinarian know before your appointment. If your pet is showing side effects after receiving a vaccine, it’s always a good idea to check in with us.

We understand that scheduling conflicts arise, and if you are able to let us know more than 48 hours before a scheduled appointment, we can help you cancel or reschedule at no charge. If you need to reschedule or cancel your visit less than 48 before an appointment time, there will be a $75 fee added to your account.

We typically administer any vaccinations that your pet needs during their annual or biannual Wellness Exam.

Yes, the cost of your pet’s vaccinations is not included in your Wellness Exam fee. We typically bundle your pet’s vaccinations with their scheduled checkup, so that you only need to pay one travel fee.

While pet insurance does not generally cover preventative care like Wellness Exams and vaccinations, many Pet Wellness Plans do.

A typical vaccination schedule for puppies and kittens starts between 6 to 8 weeks of age and continues until they are approximately 16 weeks old. After reaching maturity, vaccines are boosted after 1 year, then booster vaccines can range from every 1-3 years depending on lifestyle.
