The Rattlesnake Vaccine is considered a lifestyle vaccine. This vaccination is unique as it helps create protect your pet against the venom of the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. There may be cross protection towards other snakes with similar venom, including Copperheads. Vaccination should be considered for dogs who hike, hunt, or spend time outdoors in areas where rattlesnakes live. This vaccination can be given to puppies as young as 16 weeks of age. The vaccine is given in a two-part series and should be boosted every six months. A pet receiving the Rattlesnake Vaccine is not fully protected until 30 days after vaccination. Dogs who have received the Rattlesnake Vaccine typically have a less severe response to Rattlesnake venom.
