It would take you 23 years to eat every restaurant in New York City but Fido’s food options are way more limited. However, Brooklyn is home to at least 160 restaurants that welcome dogs (and their owners), so it’s definitely worth the effort to discover which 8 are a must-see.

Described as a “neighborhood tavern with a chill vibe,” Canal Bar is a great combo of a pet-friendly policy and a wide selection of draft beers. A spacious backyard and free popcorn are an open invitation to beer & dog lovers.
Moreover, they often team up with Brooklyn’s Badass Animal Rescue to organize fundraising events. Monday through Friday, they are open from 3 PM to 10 in the evening, while they open at 1 PM on the weekends.

If there is one thing this friendly neighborhood bar is famous for, then it’s live events, from open mic comedy events, across trivia nights, to concerts. The Pine Box Rock Shop opened its doors back in 2010 inside a former casket factory, which adds to its allure.
Dogs and humans alike are welcome to enjoy their cocktail selection, such as Sam in a Sweater or Moscow Mule. The best thing on the food menu are vegan empanadas. Also, the bar is popular among dog owners, so chances have it that Fido will have a play buddy.

Sotto Voce is a cozy Italian diner set at the corner of 7th Avenue and 4th Street. Needless to say, they serve delicious pasta and the staff is friendly to dogs, as they will be more than happy to bring your four-legged friend a bowl of water.
People who visit (mostly locals) Sotto Voce are a friendly bunch that is likely to play with your dog while you eat. Apart from Italian dishes, such as Fusilli Al Salmone, they serve Eggs Benedicts and crunchy French toast, which is ideal brunch food.

Lit in red at night, Buttermilk Bar is a great place to drop by for a beer or meal if you’re in the Park Slope neighborhood. Just a block away from Prospect Park, this taproom features board games and vintage video games: the perfect eatertainment.
They open at 5 PM every day, so you can eat dinner with your pup here and enjoy the ever-festive atmosphere. The staff is sometimes hard to get to but this shouldn’t ruin the overall experience of chilling out with your pup after work.

Since Bay Ridge is within the service area of local Brooklyn vets, you and your pet dog can peacefully enjoy Cebu’s eclectic American menu. This bistro offers plenty of seating both inside and outside, as guests chose from several menus, such as the popular Lunch Special (21+ only).
Two locals teamed up back in 2001 to offer the Bay Ridge community a late/night place to dine (they were open until 3 AM). After the expansion in 2009, Cebu now features a lounge with a fireplace, as well as intimate bar. The current chef, Carlos, is also an expert in Italian & Spanish cuisine.

This Vegas-style restaurant & nightclub is a great place to end the walk along the boardwalk on Brighton Beach. The outdoor seating overlooking the Atlantic is particularly impressive and you might even get to meet the owner, Tatiana, who is originally from Odessa.
The place is popular among dog owners not only because the beach is nearby but because the staff are friendly to pets. You can enjoy Russian hospitality and cuisine every day from 11 AM at one of the boardwalk tables. Who knows, maybe Pojarsky Cutlets become standard dog food for your pet.

Open daily from noon until 4 AM, The Levee is a popular Williamsburg watering hole. They offer a wide selection of canned, draft, and bottled beer that are the ideal match for the pub grub (hot dogs and sandwiches) they serve as well.
The atmosphere is relaxed, as you can shoot some pool or play darts. Their dog policy, though, states that your pet should be on a leash inside. On the upside, the management has placed several dog bowls inside, so Fido can stay hydrated while you sip beer.

This intimate, candle-lit Italian place boasts using high-quality fresh ingredients, as guests can choose from a variety of meats, from veal to fish. They also offer takeout & delivery and the friendly staff is always there to meet the needs of your pup.

Although the City ordinance states that dogs aren’t allowed inside New York’s restaurants, they are more than welcome in the outside dining area. The only precondition is that they do not enter through the food preparation area or the inside. However, some restaurants allow dogs inside if they aren’t large or if they are on a leash.
Like with restaurants, dogs are not allowed inside NYC’s bars but they can enter outdoor seating areas, such as beer gardens.
